Fireproof

Kirk Cameron stars as Caleb Holt, a mercurial-tempered firefighter whose marriage is on the rocks. He clearly enjoys his status as a hero, but it comes at the expense of his marriage. His wife Catherine (Erin Bethea) is tired of the distance and wants him to make more of an effort at home and in their marriage, rather than surf porn on the internet and hoard his earnings toward his dream fishing boat instead of helping out her disabled mother.

Faced with impending divorce, Caleb's dad challenges him to follow the "40-day love dare," in which each task (cook her dinner, say nothing negative, etc.) is meant for him to better understand love and commitment and try and win his wife back. In the process, Caleb realises the wrong he has done in following his own selfish desires over the years of his marriage, and that he has to burden so much of the blame in the impending end of his marriage.

The "Love Dare" is based on Biblical prinicples of our lifelong commitment to our spouse, the covenent we've made with our spouse in the eyes of God, and how we should all walk through every area of our lives as Christians. Most importantly though, the "Love Dare" shows us our need to call out to God at all times in every area of our lives, and in the context of this movie, to help save our marriages.

The third film by brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, Fireproof is the Kendrick Brothers most polished feature. Cameron does a fine job of making Caleb real and believable, even when we're not always liking him. For fans of new actress Erin Bethea, herself a committed Christian and servant for Christ, Fireproof is still her very best work to date that I've seen.

A Walk in My Shoes

Ever judge someone just by looking at them? Of course, weve all made snap judgments about people. But what if we really got to know them? How would our opinions change? And what if we were forced to become them how would the shoes fit then? Stressed-out high school teacher Trish Fahey cant understand her students lack of effort and why their parents dont seem to care. This is especially true of Justin Kremer, a popular, skateboard-loving, basketball star who is underperforming in her class.

Trish has him suspended from the team and quickly chalks up the situation as a case of bad parenting. This perspective dramatically changes when Trish meets Molly, a mysterious stranger intent on helping her see things differently. When Trish wrecks her car, Molly is there as Trish wakes to find herself living the life of Cindy Kremer, the woman she has personally judged and criticized. Trish discovers that there is often more to the story and learns a powerful lesson that affects everyone she interacts with. Her husband, her daughter, the ex-Marine next door No one is left unchanged.

A Caution: Bible Movies Are Not Accurate

Please be aware that almost every bible movie is often not scripturally or historically accurate. This is most especially true of any bible movies which are made by Hollywood. As such, these films should only be considered as entertainment, and nothing more. We recommend regular personal reading of the Holy Bible, preferably the King James AV, to ensure our faith in Jesus Christ remains as accurate and as scripturally truthful at all times.
